For the elders of our Nation, living life well depends on receiving healthcare that is in harmony with the cultural values and customs of the Tohono O’odham Himdag. The Tohono O’odham Nursing Care Authority (TONCA) opened our elder assisted living residence to allow our elders to receive the healthcare services they need within our Nation, rather than having to relocate outside of our community to non-O’odham facilities. At the Tohono O’odham Elder Assisted Living Residence, our cherished elders are empowered to live with dignity and to enjoy complete health, including physical, psychological, spiritual, social, and intellectual wellness.
When you move into our elder assisted living residence, you can enjoy all the comforts of home within our small, friendly community. Each of our residents receives their own private room and bathroom, fully furnished and equipped with a flat screen TV with cable. Our residents enjoy socializing with friends and caregivers in the spacious dens (featuring workstations with computers) and the great room, which offers a fireplace and spectacular views of the desert and mountains. Another favorite feature of our elders’ home is the covered patio with an outdoor fireplace. We provide a comfortable environment they can call home.

All residents receive an individualized care plan that details their specific needs. Each resident’s care plan is regularly reviewed and updated to ensure their needs are met.
Our home-like community provides everything our residents need to enjoy quality of life and dignified living. The safety, health, and security of our residents are top priorities. Our elder assisted living services extend beyond personal care and healthcare to encompass enriching activities. All residents have the option to participate in daily activities, which are adjusted based on each resident’s physical and cognitive capabilities. Some of our popular activities include baking, bingo, arts and crafts, and parties.
